About Us

Hi there!

We are the Women behind Being Ruth! Here's our little story up until now:

In September 2011 we decided to get involved with  a small group of women in Soshanguve, a township on the outskirts of Pretoria north/west. These women are jobless due to family / the economy or are on a very limited pension.

We decided to start a small business to enable and also teach these women how to produce products that can provide a sustainable income for them. We choose to name the business Being Ruth because of the strong biblical connection to Ruth and her move from a life of need to a life of significance. Our aim is to bring hope and encouragement to these women. To show them that they are part of something bigger and that they can make a difference, in their own life's as well as there community!

Currently we are working with 17 women, all contributing with their very unique skills! We have embroidery, sewing, pattern cutters, bead-makers and quilting skills that we incorporate into our products! We try to teach them about what colours go together, how to assemble a product neatly, cutting straight lines, quality control and  consistency in a product. After many hits and misses, trail and so many errors we can finally showcase our range of products!!!!

It's our dream that  we will be able to expand and involve even more women We hope you will enjoy your handmade product and that it will touch your heart as much as these women have touched ours!

Currently our products are available @ Rosemary Manor Market and hopefully so many more stores...

Thank you for being part of our story!
Keep spreading the word and visit our site for updates and new products!
